When a 5 kW home system makes sense
5 kW needs more clear terrace and a connection that can carry it. Quote follows survey.
Roof and load come first
A 5 kW array needs more shadow-free area than a 3 kW array. If the terrace cannot take it, we say so. We also check sanctioned load so the design stays realistic.
Subsidy does not scale forever
Published central residential assistance currently tops out at the 3 kW slab for PM Surya Ghar. Extra capacity above that is usually a generation decision, not extra subsidy. Confirm the live rule on the portal.
Hybrid at 5 kW
A 5 kW hybrid is sized to the backup list, not to a desire to run every appliance. That list is what moves the battery cost.
What is inside the quoted price
Material, civil work, installation by our own team and the net-metering process are included at 5 kW as well. The published subsidy of up to ₹1,08,000 for a UP home is claimed from the government portal, and finance from around 5.5% a year with government banks can cover up to 100% of the system if the bank approves it.
Questions
Should I jump to 5 kW to get more subsidy?
Not if the roof or connection cannot support it, and not if the extra kW is outside published subsidy slabs. We design for the home, not for a headline kW.
